Sheriff's officials are asking tipsters to step forward after a man was shot on a trail in San Marcos early Saturday, and investigators found a ghost gun at the scene. The shooting happened after 12:30 a.m. near Questhaven and San Elijo roads in the San Elijo community, sheriff's Detective David Arnold said in a news release. He said the victim told deputies that he was walking on a trail in the area when three people in dark hoodies approached him.
'At some point, the victim was shot in the leg,' Arnold said. The three people ran off. The victim was able to request help from people who lived in nearby homes. Arnold said the man who was shot was taken to a hospital and 'is expected to make a full recovery.' Deputies later found a ghost gun near the site of the shooting.
