The Nation Newspaper German Ovtcharov claims WTT Contender Lagos
claimed the title at the 2024 WTT Contender Lagos by beating compatriot beating Ricardo Walther 4-1 in the Men’s Singles Final.
The Number One Seed, a favourite with the enthusiastic Lagos fans , said he was happy to have made a return to Nigeria to claim a well-deserved victory. “I’m excited and I had a good feeling coming back to Lagos because of how well I was supported last year,” he said after his victory at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium. “I played good table tennis, dropping just two games on the way to the title. “It is really special to win in Lagos and I think of a few countries aside here like Germany my home and Russia where I used to play a lot and always feel welcomed so it is a big moment to win in Lagos,” he added.
