The initial proposals effectively makes it harder for smaller clubs to break into European competition.
BERLIN: The German Football League and its member clubs have unanimously rejected proposals to reform the Uefa Champions League.
They have since been considered by Uefa, despite being met with fierce criticism from Europe’s domestic leagues. The initial proposals, put forward by the European Club Association president Andrea Agnelli in March, envisaged a single, three-tiered European competition with internal promotion and relegation, effectively making it harder for smaller clubs to break into European competition.
“Any reform of the already very successful European club competitions would have to be satisfactory for all participants, not just a few,” said Seifert.
