REUTERS/Fabian Bimmer/File PhotoBERLIN, Sept 27 - Sentiment among German consumers is set to fall in October, as persistently high inflation encourages people to save and blots out the chances of a recovery before the end of the year, a GfK institute survey found on Wednesday.
"This means that the chances of a recovery in consumer sentiment are likely to have fallen to zero before the end of the year," said Rolf Buerkl, GfK's consumer expert. An indicator reading above zero signals year-on-year growth in private consumption. A value below zero indicates a drop compared with the same period a year earlier.
