Lt. Gen. Stephen N. Whiting tapped for Space Command chief declines to endorse DEI policies

“Race-based hiring has no place in the military,” the foundation said in a July 10 statement announcing the inspector general complaint. In addition to his public criticism of DEI training, Col. Lohmeier was removed from command for criticizing “specific political parties,” Gen. Whiting said. During the same program, Lt. Col. Lohmeier was asked if “senior leaders and other service members” in charge were promoting diversity policies, and replied “I hope not. I think some do, but I couldn’t tell you exactly who they are,” Maj. Babcock said.
