The situation in Gaza is rapidly deteriorating due to severe food shortages. Supplies allowed in by Israel only meet a fraction of the population's needs, leading to widespread hunger and hardship.

RAMALLAH: The situation in Gaza is worsening after supplies of flour and food allowed in by Israel through the border crossings only meet six percent of the population's needs. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees ( UNRWA ) confirmed this, as reported by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA). This situation is adding to the suffering of the population in obtaining food supplies, causing most bakeries in southern Gaza to be shut down.

UNRWA explains that more than two million displaced people in the Gaza Strip are now facing problems of starvation, thirst, disease, and fear of getting food. The agency also reported the situation of these people in camps and displacement centers is tragic, due to being plagued by hunger and cold. International organizations have also failed to meet the needs of the population who are hoping for assistance to continue living. UNRWA is calling for the full opening of border crossings and the influx of supplies needed by the population to address the problem of starvation that is causing malnutrition and triggering various diseases
