Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Douglas Uggah announced the state-level Gawai celebration will be held June 20-21 in Kuching, including a cultural parade and state dinner with the Head of State Tun Dr Wan Junaidi as guest of honor, and attendance by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Abang Johari. Uggah also declined to comment on his political future, leaving any retirement decision to the Premier. Separately, Malaysia will suspend imports of sea bass and five Thai shrimp species starting June 1.

He said Sarawak Head of State Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar will be the guest of honour at the state dinner on June 21, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg also expected to attend.
"On June 20, we will have the Niti Daun procession in Kuching. The Gawai celebration will culminate in the state dinner," he told reporters at his Gawai open house at the Unifor Complex here on Monday . Separately, Uggah declined to comment on his political future amid speculation that he might step down ahead of the next state election.
"I leave it to the Premier, the president of PBB . He has the wisdom to determine whether a leader should retire or continue," he said, adding that leaders coming and going is normal in Sarawak's political tradition.
"We are getting old and we are running out of ideas. We may not be able to keep up with technology. Anyway, we leave it to the Premier to decide," he said. Malaysia to suspend imports of sea bass and five Thai shrimp species from June 1
