The Gauteng Education Department says parents who have received school placement offers for 2024 should accept them or face losing the offer.
The Gauteng Department of Education says that the process to place over 700 000 learners at schools across the process is running smoothly.
During this year’s admissions process 757 075 learners from both grade 1 and 8 were signed up to begin school in 2024 via the department’s online portal. So far 81 033 Grade 1 learners and 65 726 Grade 8 learners have been placed at schools for the 2024 academic year as of the first week of September.
GDE says that hesitance to accept offers has significantly slowed the placement process. To that end if you have received an offer but have not accepted, the department says that offers will be voided after a period of time. It is also important to ensure that the application itself has been completed properly.
