James Ryan, who is Leinster's new co-captain with Ringrose, wants to put the province back on the winning track again after the last few years of heartbreak
Given the influence that Johnny Sexton wielded at the province, it is perhaps fitting that head coach Leo Cullen has gone with two of his senior players to fill the void after his retirement.
And, for Ringrose, this is a welcome chance to put into practise what he learned from observing Sexton and Isa Nacewa in the primary leadership role. Ringrose, Ryan and the rest of Leinster's Ireland contingent returned to the province's UCD headquarters this week after enjoying a post-World Cup break.
"So yeah, very excited. Obviously we have plenty of experience playing together, but also off the pitch I'd be pretty close with Garry, he's one of my best mates. So hopefully we'll work well together.Leinster haven't won the Champions Cup since 2018 - they have lost three finals since then - and Ryan was part of that team that conquered Europe in Bilbao five and a half years ago.
"So look, the group just want to keep pushing on and look to win trophies and to be successful, that hasn't changed.
