Gabriel Garcia Marquez's iconic 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' is being adapted into a Netflix series -- 'the first and only time in more than 50 years that his family has allowed the project to be adapted for the screen,' according to Netflix.
Netflix is adapting Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez's iconic"One Hundred Years of Solitude" into a series.
"This marks the first and only time in more than 50 years that his family has allowed the project to be adapted for the screen," Netflix said Wednesday. "One Hundred Years of Solitude," which was originally published in Spanish in 1967, is perhaps the best known work by the Nobel prize-winning author. The novel is set in the fictional"Macondo," which was inspired by Marquez's hometown in northern Colombia.
