The Chicago Woodturners and the Windy City Woodturners will raise funds on Oct. 7 in Batavia to benefit those in need in the area.
Members of the woodturning clubs will be at the Batavia Boardwalk Shops at Wilson Street and Route 25 in downtown Batavia from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. selling donated bowls and other wood-turned items to raise funds for the Northern Illinois Food Bank, the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and the Fox Valley Food for Health organizations.The Fox Valley Gallery of Wood Boardwalk Shop will feature wooden, hand-crafted items produced by local artisans during the fundraising event.
The Batavia Boardwalk Shops owners are also participating in the Empty Bowls event by collecting canned goods and other food pantry staples. All customers who bring food pantry items to the fundraiser or make a purchase at any of the Boardwalk Shops on Oct. 7 will be eligible to win a gift basket filled with items donated by the Boardwalk Shops businesses, officials said.The Chicago Woodturners and the Windy City Woodturners are chapters of the American Association of Woodturners.
The Batavia Boardwalk Shops are open Fridays to Sundays through Dec. 17 and run by the Batavia MainStreet organization.
