Orlando Pirates were frustrated by AmaZulu on Tuesday night and boss Jose Riveiro explains why he had to sub his midfielder.
Pirates headed to the DStv Premiership tie on Tuesday night in high spirits after claiming a win over Cape Town Spurs in the Carling Knockout Cup tie.However, they were left frustrated by Usuthu who were fresh from a cup win over Kaizer Chiefs last weekend – but Ndlondlo didn’t really play a part in the tie.While Riveiro made changes as they hoped to return to Soweto with the full three points, they could not convert their chances at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“He got a clearance that went close to his eye and during seven to eight minutes on the pitch he could only use one of his eyes,” he told“That’s why we decided to sub him, unfortunately.”Furthermore, the reigning MTN8 champions failed to close their gap to log leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, which is now 16 points with two games in hand.
Up next for Riveiro and his men is a clash against a motivated Polokwane City who are coached by former Pirates skipper, Lehlohonolo Seema.As things stand, it remains to be seen if Ndlondlo will be available for the Buccaneers for the encounter slated for Orlando Stadium on Friday night.
