Former South African junior national team goalkeeper Jethren Barr has expressed his disappointment after being snubbed by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos. SLSiya Read more:
Bafana mentor Broos named his squad for the upcoming friendlies and with talks of a goalkeeping crisis in South Africa, some were not impressed with the goalkeeping selection. One of those, is 23-year-old former Maritzburg United keeper, who is currently at Portadown FC in Ireland, and shared his pain for not being included in the Bafana Bafana set-up, despite having a good run in Europe.
"I was hoping then that they would bring me in to at least have a look at me. Now I’ve come over to Ireland, played close to 30 games already. I’ve been the Irish fans Goalkeeper of the Season in 2021 and Irish Team of the Se.ason for 2021. I’ve been picking up individual awards as player of the month. etc."
"However this league is full of talented players from Wolves, Manchester United, others come from MLS and the Scottish Premiership. I’m playing against very talented players.
