Five years after her story of climbing a tree for internet access during online exams went viral, Veveonah Mosibin is now pursuing her dream of becoming a medical doctor. The 23-year-old from Sabah, Malaysia , gained international recognition for her dedication to her studies, evident in her 11-minute YouTube video titled '24 Hours On Tree' showcasing her unique approach to taking exams.
Now a student at the Management and Science University (MSU) in Shah Alam, Veveonah is studying medicine, hoping to specialize in surgery. Before embarking on her medical journey, she completed a degree in marine science at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), but realized it wasn't her true calling. She explained that the pandemic's shift to online learning highlighted the hands-on nature of marine science, which she found less fulfilling. After graduating from UMS last year, Veveonah wasted no time in pursuing her passion for medicine at MSU in October. She acknowledges that her viral fame took a toll on her mental health, citing cyberbullying and criticism for her unconventional study method. However, she chose to focus on the positive impact she made on her community, particularly the MCMC's subsequent upgrade of internet infrastructure in her village, improving connectivity for everyone.Veveonah's ambition extends beyond academic success; she aspires to return to her hometown and serve her community as a medical doctor. Her story serves as an inspiration, demonstrating how determination and resilience can overcome challenges and lead to achieving one's dreams.
