Two bodies were retrieved from a riverbed Sunday near Fremont, and authorities said an investigation was ongoing.
The bodies — believed to be those of a man and a woman — were so badly degraded authorities did not yet know their causes of death or their identities, said Lt. Tya Modeste, public information officer for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
Police determined the bodies were in the county’s jurisdiction, and sheriff’s deputies and coroner’s officials responded, Modeste said.
