Franklin County courts, law enforcement and state agencies are preparing to help more than 100,000 people who have lost their their privilege to drive.

A License Reinstatement Workshop will take place; it's where community members will address issues that may be holding them back from having a driver's license, including ongoing court cases or inability to go to places for license reinstatement. "There'll be opportunities for individuals to meet with legal aid, go to court for possible driving privileges re-assigned to them, until they can get their licenses reinstated to them," said Tyack.The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles found that more than 112,000 people in Franklin County have suspended driver's licenses, with some of the top reasons including non-compliance and court-ordered suspensions; issues that may be addressed and resolved at the workshop.
It's the third workshop the court has hosted within the past several years. The most recent event was held in 2019 when more than 1,400 people with suspended driver's licenses showed up asking for assistance to get back behind the wheel.
