French Ambassador to Malaysia, Axel Cruau, stated that France is committed to strengthening cooperation with ASEAN, especially under Malaysia's chairmanship in 2023. He expressed confidence that Malaysia, as ASEAN chair, can drive initiatives beneficial to all member states. Cruau highlighted the importance of Malaysia to France in Southeast Asia and anticipates significant progress under Malaysia's leadership. He emphasized the desire for new initiatives, particularly in security, stability, and sustainable development. Cruau also praised Malaysia's active role as ASEAN chair, promoting inclusivity and sustainability.

“Pada masa yang sama, kami turut berharap agar lebih banyak inisiatif baharu dapat dicapai apabila Malaysia mempengerusikan ASEAN terutama dalam bidang seperti keselamatan, keamanan, dan kestabilan yang menjadi asas kepada kemakmuran di Indo-Pasifik. Mengulas lanjut, Cruau berkata, Perancis yang mewakili Kesatuan Eropah juga bersemangat untuk memperkukuh dialog bersama ASEAN yang dipengerusikan Malaysia dalam menyokong sebarang usaha atau inisiatif oleh ASEAN.
“Jadi, kami berharap akan ada berita positif sepanjang lawatan itu,” katanya yang menambah, Perancis adalah rakan ASEAN dan negara itu juga bersedia untuk menjalin lebih banyak kerjasama dengan negara-negara rantau Asia Tenggara selepas ini.
