A new report from Taiwanese outlet United Daily News claims that a Foxconn subsidiary will be making the robotic parts of the Apple smart display.
Bloomberg had reported last week that the rumours Apple smart home tablet screen would come with a robotic limb of some sort. It will also come with some actuators that would allow it adjust where the screen faces to obey commands like 'look at me'. More recently, another report has identified the company that will be involved in the production of this smart display, and specifically its robotic bits.
Taiwanese outlet United Daily News cites supply chain sources that claim that Foxconn, a fellow Taiwanese company that's long been involved in the making of Apple's iPhones, will be the ones to make the robot arm. No real surprise there, as the company - or at least a subsidiary known as Hongzhun - has its own expertise in making robotic components.
At any rate, while the hardware side of things don't currently have contradictory claims, such leaks should still be taken with a pinch of salt. Naturally, this is doubly so for bits that do have claims that go in opposite directions.
