Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch, New Braunfels and San Marcos will host their own Fourth of July celebrations.Need a place outside of San Antonio to celebrate the Fourth of July and watch fireworks light up the night sky?

Here are four Hill Country cities where you can celebrate with food, music — and the obligatory fireworks — just by heading north up either Interstate 10 or I-35. Click on the city name to get more details.Head up I-10 a piece to Boerne to catch its 500-tube fireworks show. The Kendall County Fairgrounds and the Champion High School are the “prime viewing” areas for the 9:15 p.m. show, expected to last 15 to 20 minutes, according to the city’s website.

Food truck vendors will be at City Park, where parking also is available. But you can bring your own refreshments — just not in glass containers — along with lawn chairs or blankets. Also up I-10, but closer in, Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club will host a combination fireworks-laser show. The show is scheduled to start about 9:30 p.m., but fireworks fans can show up to the club starting at 6 p.m. to secure a spot.

Food trucks, drinks and a DJ will be available, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, according to the city’s website. If you live closer to I-35, you may want to head up to New Braunfels’ Landa Park, situated along the Comal River. The festivities run from 7 to 9 p.m. It’s also the culmination of the city’s monthlong concert series, featuring a live performance by the J. Abram Band. There’ll also be food trucks and entertainment for the kids.
