PETALING JAYA: Four fresh faces have been roped in to keep the National Under-16 team on their toes.

Four fresh faces have been roped in to keep the National Under-16 team on their toes.

They are part of the 30 boys selected, including a few from the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School, Johor Darul Ta’zim and Terengganu, for the training camp to prepare for the Asian Football Confederation Under-16 qualifiers in Laos from Sept 18-22.They play Cambodia on Sept 16, followed by Laos and Japan at the Laos National Stadium. said the boys come with excellent credentials and he wanted to expose them against older players to see if they can cope at the higher level.

“We saw the AMD boys perform well in the AFF Under-15. I want to add depth to the team as I want my reserves to compete with the usual first eleven.” Maniam said the players would not be overawed by that success but were focused on qualifying for the AFC Under-16 qualifiers.
