PETALING JAYA: Four former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia MPs, including Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, have submitted notices to Parliament seeking to table a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in the coming Parliament meeting next month.

The notices dated Oct 15 were from former prime minister and Langkawi MP Dr Mahathir, Jerlun MP Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, Simpang Renggam MP Dr Maszlee Malik and Kubang Pasu MP Datuk Amiruddin HamzahUnder the Parliament Standing Orders, MPs are required to submit two weeks' notice to the Dewan Rakyat for any motion they intend to raise in the coming meeting from Nov 2 to Dec 10.

In a letter to the Dewan Rakyat Speaker dated Sept 25, Gua Musang MP Tan Sri Razaleigh Hamzah requested a guarantee that priority would be given to the tabling of a motion of no confidence against the prime minister in the upcoming sitting. Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun responded to Razaleigh's inquiry, saying that government business takes precedence over Private Members' Bills in the House. In May, former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof allowed Dr Mahathir's motion of no confidence to be included in the Parliament Order Paper before his removal at the start of Parliament's meeting in July.

However, Dr Mahathir's motion of no confidence did not see the light of day as it was listed at the bottom of the Order Paper with government Bills and matters given priority.
