NEW DELHI: Police personnel gunned down as many as four armed rebels called 'Naxals' in India's central state of Chhattisgarh, confirmed a local police official to Xinhua over phone on Saturday morning (May 9).

One policeman was also killed in the encounter that began last night and continued till Saturday morning, added the police official.The cop who died was identified as Sub-Inspector Shyam Kishore Sharma. State Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted"Four Naxals were killed in the encounter that happened in Rajnandgaon, in Pardhoni village near Madanwara area.
