'Fortnite' is getting a big crossover event with 'Avengers: Endgame.' Here's what to expect:
wasn’t going to let this one go by without a mention. Epic Games just announced anotherevent, mashing up two of the biggest media properties in the world for an epic crossover that should, if everything goes to plan, sell an absolute ton of skins. The event will start on Thursday, April 25, one day beforesecond collaboration with Marvel, and it’s likely going to be a lot bigger this time around.
So what can we expect? At the very least we can expect the return of Thanos: you don’t build the Mad Titan in a game like this and then not take the opportunity to trot him out again. But the teaser image makes it clear that that’s not all we’re getting this time around. The heroes are making an appearance as well in some way, shape or form: it shows a female version of Captain America, indicating an admirable flexibility with the canon.
My guess is that we’ll be getting some sort of limited time mode that brings back Thanos, but mixes up the formula a bit by introducing hero characters as well. So we could have a much more powerful version of Thanos designed to be far too powerful to take down with normal weapons, and then other players will take up the mantle of characters like Captain America, Ironman, Spider-man and more in an attempt to re-enact however it is they’ll be taking down the enemy in the movie.
After that, I’m guessing we’ll be able to earn a hero skin or two to use for the rest of the game by completing challenges, but that plenty more will be locked behind the item shop: either alternate costumes for the biggest heroes or smaller characters like Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner’s human form and, I’m going to guess, Korg. Epic knows the internet too well not to bring Korg into the mix.
