Footage from a neighboring residence showed the pursuit of a man who was shot by Fort Worth police Saturday.Fort Worth police released footage and additional details Thursday related to theAbout 12:20 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to a home in the 4900 block of Odessa Avenue, near South Hills Elementary School, after a woman reported her brother was threatening her with a handgun.

In a video update Thursday, Assistant Chief Robert Alldredge said dispatch informed officers that Galvan was still armed with his weapon. He said officers pursued on foot and ordered him to stop in the 4900 block of Rutland Avenue. During the pursuit, officers used a Taser on Galvan, which Alldredge said was “ineffective.” Video footage from a neighboring home showed an officer using a Taser before the man trips and then rolls to a sitting position facing the officer.

Alldredge said Galvan pulled a handgun out of his pants and pointed it at the officer. The officer fired two times, but it was not clear how many times Galvan was hit.Video footage shows the man throwing something toward the officer after being shot, which police identified as a handgun. Additional footage of the incident from an assisting officer’s body camera shows a view of the incident from behind the first officer. An officer can be heard yelling, “Get your hands out of your pockets” and “I’ll shoot you, bro.”On Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, FWPD Officers were involved in a shooting.As the investigation is ongoing, details are limited; however, this update is descriptive and meant to keep each of you informed.
