Kinuko Iwamoto, the former chancellor of Tokyo Women’s Medical University, has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling approximately ¥120 million for personal use. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) suspects Iwamoto diverted funds intended for the construction of new campus buildings. This arrest follows previous allegations of irregular salary payments and illicit donations in exchange for preferential student admissions.

TOKYO: The Metropolitan Police Department on Monday arrested Kinuko Iwamoto, former chancellor of Tokyo Women’s Medical University, on suspicion of illicitly having the university disburse about ¥120 million in connection with the construction of new campus buildings, investigative sources said.
