Judge Marlina Ibrahim acquitted and discharged 29-year-old Muhamad Ezannee Mokmin from Sabah's southwestern Beaufort district after ruling that the prosecution failed to prove a prima facie.
Ezannee was arrested at 2.40pm on July 17, 2022 at the car park area in front of the supermarket in Beaufort, where he worked, for possession of 63.68 grams of cannabis. Ezannee was represented by lawyer Datuk Seri K. Rakhbir Singh, while the prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Afiqah Alya Johari.
On Mar 24, 2023, Ezannee was allowed RM5,000 bail, which made him among very few charged under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 to be given bail pending the case hearing. Ezannee's case was initially heard by Sessions Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim on April 1, 2024, but midway through the trial, it came under the jurisdiction of a different Sessions Court Judge, Marlina.Police must enhance training to promote integrity and ethics, says Lee Lam ThyeTwo Pakistani men nabbed in passport forgery crackdown in Setapak
