Stephen Silas, leaving the court after final game with Rockets last April, will be joining the Detroit Pistons as an assistant.Former Rockets coach Stephen Silas will join Monty Williams as an assistant coach with the Detroit Pistons, a person with knowledge of the move said. The position gives him another chance to help mentor talented young guards as he has through his much of his coaching career.The Rockets did not pick up the fourth season on Silas’ contract after the season.

Silas, 49, went 59-177 in three seasons with the Rockets are the team’s decision to trade James Harden early in Silas’ first season and begin a rebuilding process.
