UPDATE: The former mayor of Lamitan and two others were killed at an Ateneo de Manila University Quezon City shooting incident on Sunday.
The Quezon City government identified the victims as former Mayor Rose Furigay, an Ateneo campus security guard, and an unidentified male, likely the personal security of the mayor.
"The suspect, a certain Chao Tiao Yumul is now in the custody of the police," QC Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.the shooting took place in front of the Arete building. The law school graduation was to held at the auditorium. The Ateneo de Manila University announced that due to the incident at Areté, the 2022 Commencement Exercises of the Ateneo Law School scheduled for Sunday-July 24, 2022 was cancelled.
