A homelessness consultant who has held several positions with non-profits and government agencies was indicted on theft, identity theft and official misconduct charges for alleged crimes while working for an Oregon city.
On Tuesday morning, Dahlgren was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on several counts of first-degree theft, identity theft, aggravated identity theft and official misconduct. The city of Gresham told KATU that Dahlgren was placed on leave as soon as they learned about the alleged theft in March of 2023, saying he resigned shortly thereafter. They opened up an investigation, which lasted about six months.
Dahlgren was working for the city of Gresham at that time doing homeless outreach. He also said he was representing the non-profit “We Heart Portland," an offshoot of the “We Heart Seattle” movement that connects the homeless community to services. Sanders said the second time, she opened the door to say thank you. She said Dahlgren wouldn't turn around, dropping the box of veggies and then driving off.
