Formula 1: Lando Norris has admitted he didn't deserve to win the Hungarian Grand Prix but believes McLaren's decision to pit him first put he and Piastri in an awkward position.

'They gave me the lead, I gave it back' | 02:59Former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto will take over the top job of Audi’s F1 program after the German giant announced the shock axing of team CEO Andreas Seidl.

Binotto’s signature comes as “part of the realignment of the control structure for the future Audi factory team”, according to a statement from the motor manufacturer, including the surprise dismissal of former McLaren principal and high-profile recruit Andreas Seidl. “I would like to thank Oliver and Andreas for their important work in establishing our entry into Formula 1 and their commitment in preparing it,” Döllner concluded. The shock announcement will do little to quell a sense of quiet crisis surrounding the Audi project, with the Sauber team in steep decline and the brand’s engine program beset by rumours of underperformance.

James Key was signed as the team’s technical director last June, just three months after the English designer was sacked by McLaren as part of a technical restructure initiated by Andrea Stella, who replaced the outbound Seidl at the start of that year as team boss at Woking.

The Renault-owned team has long been rumoured to be weighing up shuttering its F1 power unit program in Viry-Châtillon, on the outskirts of Paris, given the significant cost associated with engine development and the brand’s history of underperformance in the turbo-hybrid era.
