Wallace, who is the first undrafted player to make the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, played at Tri-C for two seasons and averaged 26 points, 17.0 rebounds and 6.9 blocks.
He then transferred to Division II Virginia Union, and led his team to the Final Four and became an All-American.
He played 15 seasons in the NBA and was a four-time Defensive Player of the Year. Wallace was also a four-time All-Star and won an NBA championship with the 2003-04 Pistons. Wallace came back to Cleveland in 2007-08 in a midseason trade and played 78 games for the Cavaliers in that stretch. He averaged 3.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in those games.
“When I came back to play for the Cavs it was a surreal moment, because just a few miles down the street is where it started,” he said.
