Multiple Thai media outlets reported that a gunman on a motorcycle opened fire on Lim Kimya as he arrived in the Thai capital from the Cambodian city of Siem Reap by bus, accompanied by his French wife and a Cambodian uncle.According to The Nation, despite receiving first aid and CPR, Lim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Initial investigations indicate that the victim was a former opposition MP from the Cambodia National Rescue Party. He had travelled from Siem Reap, Cambodia, by bus with his French wife. Upon arriving at the location, a man on a motorcycle approached the victim, shot him, and fled the scene. The Nation also said that preliminary findings revealed that the suspect is a male riding a red Honda Wave 100 motorcycle with license plate 845. The suspect was wearing a short-sleeve gray shirt, jeans, a chest bag, and a helmet, possibly using the bag to conceal a firearm. Lim Kimya was elected as an opposition member of Cambodia's parliament following a general poll in 2013 in which the ruling party under former leader Hun Sen almost lost to its then-rival, the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP)
