The former Alameda County deputy district attorney facing a misdemeanor charge says his address was exposed in court documents intentionally.
OAKLAND — In a defiant court appearance Friday, a former Alameda County prosecutor blasted the District Attorney’s Office for exposing his address and other identifying information in court documentsAmilcar “Butch” Ford, a veteran prosecutor who was charged this week by District Attorney Pamela Price’s office, said his information was public for two days, exposing him to potential harm by the killers, robbers and rapists he worked to put behind bars.
The brief hearing at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in downtown Oakland may serve as an appetizer to courtroom drama to come, with Ford already assembling his defense team. He is scheduled to return to court July 31 for arraignment. Price charged Ford with defending after public prosecution as the prosecutor, and she said in an email to her staff that Ford “breached several professional rules and codes of conduct” by providing “confidential work product information” to the officer’s attorney.
Wearing a hooded sweatshirt emblazoned with the “Superman” logo, Ford vehemently denied any wrongdoing outside of court Friday, saying he is being prosecuted for speaking out against Price.A spokesperson for the District Attorney’s Office declined to comment Friday.
