Foreign investors remain net buyers of country’s bonds

Foreign investors charted a net inflow of RM3bil from the RM1.5bil registered in April this year.

This is on expectations of the US Federal Reserve ending its rate hike cycle, according to RAM Ratings.

“Foreign buying of MGS and GII in the first quarter of 2023 consisted largely of ‘non-sticky’ investors, while ‘sticky’ investors largely sold down. “The latest ‘dot-plot’ projections suggest that committee members anticipate another two 25 basis points hikes this year,” it said in a statement, as reported by Bernama.
