It's hard to think of Byfleet in Surrey playing a part in that famous grudge match between Enzo Ferrari and Henry Ford II, but it did. That's where Alan Mann Racing was originally based, and during the latter part of 1965 the Ford Motor Company handed AMR the job of improving the GT40 MkI's competitiveness. Mann subcontracted the build of five new GT40 chassis to Abbey Panels.
In tribute to the AMR cars, Ford's finishing off production of the current GT with the Alan Mann Heritage Edition. This limited-edition car emulates the look of the '66 AMR GT40 with the same signature red and gold exterior.
