UPDATE 10/25/2023: The UAW and Ford have reportedly reached a tentative deal to bring the strike to an end against that company. Bloomberg News is reporting this evening that the new contract with Ford would include a pay raise of 25 percent for hourly workers. It will still need to be voted on and approved by the union members, and the other automakers are not involved in this tentative agreement.
Workers walked out of the Arlington, Texas, plant that builds GM's full-size SUVs including the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade; this follows an expansion of the strike to Stellantis' Sterling Heights, Michigan, facility that builds the Ram 1500 full-size pickup truck.The UAW said that 5000 workers from the GM Arlington plant are now on strike, along with 6800 workers from the Stellantis Sterling Heights plant.
