Florence Butt, Charles’ grandmother, founded H-E-B in 1905. Charles started as a bagger at 8 years old and found himself chairman and CEO by 1971. The Butt family owns an estimated 90 percent of the company, which pulled in $34 billion in revenues last year, Forbes says. Forbes says Eleanor Butt Cook lives in San Marcos, close enough to San Antonio for the Alamo City to claim her.
