In Virginia, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is loaded onto the Virginia EBT cards of beneficiaries from the 1st through the 7th of every month, with the first round of benefits for August being delivered on Aug. 1.The average SNAP benefit amount per household member in Virginia is $181. Approximately 9% of the state's population, or roughly 794,600 people, are receiving assistance paying for food through SNAP in Virginia.
SNAP benefits in Virginia may be used in eligible stores to purchase"food or food products meant to be eaten by people," along with seeds and food-producing plants, among other things. Items not deemed eligible for the food stamps program include nonfood items, alcohol, tobacco, medicines, gardening items, cleaning or paper products, pet food, or prepared hot foods.The distribution of SNAP benefits in Virginia is dependent on the case number. Those with a case number that ends in 0-3 will see their benefits on Aug. 1, those with a case number ending in 4-5 will see their benefits on Aug. 4, and those with a case number ending in 6-9 will see their benefits on Aug. 7.
For a household of one in Virginia, the maximum monthly income to be eligible for food stamps is $2,265, whereas, for a household of five, the maximum monthly income to qualify for SNAP is $5,412.
