Oklahoma residents will receive their last round of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments for August over the next three days. The payment amount varies based on the household size, with a maximum allotment of $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,691 for a household of eight.
In the Sooner State, residents receive their SNAP benefits between Aug. 1 and Aug.10. Around 650,600 people, 16% of the Oklahoma population, receive food stamps. The average payment per household member per month is $183.Payments are reloaded onto an electronic benefits card each month. Food stamps can be used to buy groceries, snacks, and seeds or plants that produce food. SNAP benefits cannot be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco products, vitamins, live animals, prepared foods, or nonfood household items.
WIC packages can also be purchased, which include cereal, juice, eggs, milk, peanut butter, dried and canned beans, tofu, fruit, vegetables, and whole wheat bread. Households with breastfeeding mothers and babies can receive canned fish, cheese, and baby food in the WIC package.
