However, no amount of courses is going to help if the basic skills of thinking are not honed among the students. Contrary to general belief, HOTS cannot be taught in isolation but has to be integrated into lessons and made an integral part of teaching and learning. In the quest to secure good grades, memorising and recalling skills are glorified, leaving critical thinking critically abandoned.
