PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will go to Kelantan on Thursday (Dec 15) to put flood preparedness measures in place, says the Prime Minister.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit was also to identify problems so that they could be rectified even before floods happen.“We will make preparations and adopt early measures before the floods occur so that the people can be assisted fast,” he said after chairing the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday .
Ahmad Zahid, who chaired the national disaster management committee on Tuesday , had directed agencies to be on the alert, even though the flood warning was just a forecast. With more floods expected to hit around Saturday , Ahmad Zahid had also given an assurance to the public that all affected states would be given equal and fair treatment, regardless of whether or not they were aligned with the Federal Government.
Ahmad Zahid said this was because floods affect all the people and it is the government agencies’ responsibility to extend help to everyone.
