JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Johor has seen a slight increase to more than 39,000 at 212 temporary relief centres with the majority of them in the Batu Pahat district.
The State Disaster Management Committee said as of noon on Tuesday , there were 39,315 evacuees in nine districts across Johor.
“Most of the evacuees are in Batu Pahat with 23,370 currently seeking shelter at 78 PPS. This is followed by Muar , Segamat , Kluang , Tangkak , Kota Tinggi , Mersing , Pontian and Johor Baru ,” said the committee. The committee also said that a total of five deaths have been recorded so far in Johor due to the floods.
