NSTnation Floods have forced the closure of one main road to light vehicles in Setiu following heavy rainfall in the interior over the past 24 hours. KualaTerengganu
The affected roads are the Jalan Permaisuri-Hulu Seladang road near Kampung Besut which was closed to all traffic at 10am as a stretch of about 400m was under 0.5m of flood, while Jalan Pengkalan Merbau-Pelong road involving a 100-metre stretch near Kampung Mak Bakas is now under 0.25m of water.
State disaster management operations centre, in its alert, said at the moment, only heavy vehicles are allowed to ply on both roads. It said the Jalan Permaisuri-Hulu Seladang road has no alternative road while villagers from Kampung Pelong can use the alternative road through Kampung Gerdong. It added that it is still raining and the roads will be closed to all traffic if the water level rises to 0.76m.
