Parts of Queensland have been smashed by record rainfall as the deluge rolls into New South Wales, sparking flood alerts on both sides of the border.
Queensland has been smashed by record rainfall while some regions in NSW have copped more than 200mm, sparking flood alerts on both sides of the border as the downpour continues.
The downpour has come from a deep low pressure system and trough, which is drifting southwards across Australia's east. "Also moving across NSW as well throughout the ranges, the inland regions, and you can see that direction they're going in… yes, that means a wet day coming for you in Sydney." Queensland's Sunshine Coast recorded 65mm of rain overnight, with 32.2mm seen at the Gold Coast, according to Kharoufeh.
"Of course damaging surf with this particular swell as well which could lead to some coastal erosion in this region."Flood watches are current for catchments from Shoalwater Bay in Queensland to Tweed Heads just over the NSW border.
