The National Weather Service Phoenix office issued flash flood watches for the Valley that will last through the weekend with high chance of rain.
for parts of southern-central Arizona, southwest Arizona and southeast California show a 15% chance of flash flooding and a 30% chance of strong or severe storms.
Weather service officials want people, especially in the Phoenix area, to be mindful of flash flood watches. "What we're trying to hit on is that widespread half-inch to inch and a quarter of rain is expected but some areas could see localized 2-inch plus amounts on a very, very isolated basis; and it's in those areas where flash flooding could occur over the weekend." Heil said.
