The poll is the strongest indicator yet of DeSantis’ broad appeal as he seeks to lay the groundwork for a potential presidential run in 2024. With DeSantis and Crist set to go head-to-head on the debate stage Monday night, the Republican incumbent leads the Democratic challenger by an average of 10 percentage points in polls, according to RealClearPolitics.
The candidates are tied among women and among voters aged 49 and younger , while DeSantis barely leads Crist among voters born in the US . Among voters born outside America, DeSantis leads by 16 percentage points .The incumbent also has a big edge among Hispanic voters aged 50 and older and self-described independent voters .in September, with 50% approving and 43% disapproving — including 52% of Hispanics born outside the United States.
