Officers with the assistance of the Dog Squad arrested five teenagers who fled after smashing and rolling a stolen Mercedes onto its roof.

Residents in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Frankston alerted authorities on Wednesday about 4:50pm to a car crash outside a shopping centre on Cranbourne-Frankston Road.

Police arrived at the scene to find a crashed Mercedes Benz flipped onto its roof and later arrested five teens who fled the scene. Picture: Getty Images Witnesses reported seeing a group of teenagers fleeing the scene, with police requiring assistance from the Dog Squad to track down and arrest the five boys.Police did not reveal the extent of the boy's injuries and there were no other reports of harm to members of the public.

Two other boys, aged 12 and 14, were released pending charges being laid, while the injured 15-year-old boy remains in hospital under police guard.
