Heavy rainfall caused flooding in Kluang, leading to the opening of five temporary relief centres (PPS) to house evacuees.
Five Temporary Relief Centres (PPS) have been opened in the Kluang district following continuous rain from Friday, causing river water levels to rise and overflow into several villages. The Kluang District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) Secretariat stated that the five PPS are located at SRA Kampung Tengah, SJKT Jalan Haji Manan, SJKC Kahang, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Kencana, and Dewan Serbaguna Kahang, with a total of 449 evacuees from 174 families.
As of 8 am today, the PPS at SRA Kampung Tengah housed 49 people from 13 families in Kampung Tengah and Palembang Baru; SJKT Jalan Haji Manan accommodated 189 people from 56 families from Kampung Palembang Baru and Palembang Lama. The PPS at SJKC Kahang housed 60 people from 18 families and Dewan Serbaguna Kahang housed 102 people from 32 families, both from residents in Kampung Contoh Kahang. In Simpang Renggam, only one PPS has been opened so far, located at SK Sri Kencana, which houses 13 families comprising 55 evacuees from Kampung Parit Jepun, Batu Enam, and Sungai Rambai. - UTUSA
