JOHOR BARU: Five districts in Johor have been hit by flash floods due to continued heavy rainfall since the wee hours of Saturday (June 20) morning and high tide.

The districts that are affected include Johor Baru, Pontian, Renggam, Batu Pahat and Muar, which resulted in 122 victims being placed in six temporary shelters.

The affected villages are Kampung Sabak Awor, Taman Bakariah, Kampung Paya Lebar, Kampung Parit Salman, Kampung Parit Syafiee, Kampung Sungai Gersik, Kampung Tanjung Tohor, Kampung Parit Jamil, Kampung Parit Haji Zin Batu 15, Kampung Parit Samad, Kampung Parit Yakob, Kampung Batu 18, Kampung Batu 19 and Kampung Batu 20.

“The heavy rain, together with high tide, caused the water level to rise to 1.6m in a few low lying areas. The statement added that the river level in some areas were still at the normal level and was under control.
