Five Cameroonian soldiers were killed and several others wounded in an attack by armed men from Nigeria in the village of Bakinjaw, near the border of the two countries. The attack was confirmed by the local MP Aka Martin Tyoga and the Bakinjaw Traditional Chief Agwa Linus. Tyoga said the attack was carried out by hundreds of armed Fulani herders who crossed the border from Taraba state, Nigeria, to attack a military post in the Akwaya area of southwest Cameroon. Linus also reported that his home was burned down during the attack. The attack is the latest attempt to take control of border areas in the region.
-AGENSI
